Our Roots are in Research
In 1957, Germfree’s founder Jerome J. Landy, M.D., Ph.D. was on the forefront of gnotobiotics. While conducting his research he developed the biological safety equipment that was required for his germ-free lab. His inventive designs proved to be essential to the broader research community and in 1962 he founded Germfree.
Furthering Advancements in Biosafety
In 1975, Germfree introduced the BIOFLOW CHAMBER, bringing many innovations in ergonomics to the Class II Biological Safety Cabinet. Today, Germfree provides technological advancements to its full range of biosafety equipment and containment laboratories. Our engineering and manufacturing capabilities are unparalleled in the high containment arena.

Germfree has been manufacturing Class III Biological Safety Cabinets for five decades. Our Class III Gloveboxes are trusted internationally, serving laboratories that operate at the highest levels of biocontainment, including BSL4.
