Nestor Balaban

Nestor Balaban has over 30 years’ experience in a variety of finance and accounting roles both in consulting and industry. Nestor joined Germfree Laboratories in late 2022 and serves as the company’s Chief Financial Officer, bringing a broad background of management, day-to-day operations, and advisory skills. Nestor’s prior experience has been as a CFO and controller for manufacturing firms in Aerospace & Defense and automotive businesses. As a CFO, Nestor has managed companies through internal challenges and economic ups and downs working through such diverse activities such as, acquisitions, integrations, system upgrades, employee benefits changes, financial reporting, capital management, insurance, and legal issues. Nestor’s focus is invest in employees, streamline and automate processes and improve collaboration across internal and external stakeholders. If you ask him for career advice, he will tell you he has had anything but a traditional career. Nestor spent a number of years in private equity advisory, management consulting and industry. He is proud to have been part of such great companies, and still have friends and colleagues from Palm Tree Advisors, PwC, The Hackett Group, BearingPoint, and IBM Consulting Services. He has supported a diverse roster of clients during his career in Healthcare, Pharmacy, Lifesciences, manufacturing, technology, telecom, aerospace & defense and timber industries. Yet, somehow during this time he also worked at Warner Bros. in the entertainment business (of course in finance), in restaurant management and 2 Silicon Valley start-ups, neither of which survived The Bubble. Nestor has been blissfully married to his wife, Lisa for 27 years’, so far, and together they successfully raised, fed and trained 2 children and 2 Portuguese Water Dogs. Mr. Balaban holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from California State University, Northridge and has completed Executive leadership training at the Yale School of Management and the CFO Leadership Executive Education at the MIT Sloan School of Management and is a CMA candidate.
