Germfree is a leading manufacturer of mobile biocontainment laboratories. We have installed our PCR cabinets into various truck and trailer-based platforms. Our PCR cabinets are field-tested making them suitable for the most demanding environments. Germfree is the only company with experience in ruggedized cabinetry to insure that your PCR workstations can be deployed wherever they are needed. Additionally, Germfree products are designed for ease of performance testing and certification of the equipment when required.
Germfree manufactures two types of PCR cabinets:
- Standard L1 PCR Cabinet: provides laminar flow air to protect the product.
- Advanced L2 PCR Cabinet: provides vertical laminar flow air with HEPA exhaust to protect product, personnel, and environment.
PCR-L1: Laminar Flow PCR Cabinet - Standard PCR Cabinet to Protect Product
The PCR-L1 is Germfree's standard PCR cabinet that provides HEPA-filtered air to maintain sterility for your samples. The work area is continuously bathed with positive pressure High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filtered air to protect the product from contamination. The PCR-L1 meets or exceeds ISO 14644-1, Federal Standard 209E for ISO 5/Class 100 air and IES Recommended Practice for Laminar Flow Clean Air Devices. The laminar flow principle consists of moving individual streams of unidirectional, ultra-clean air along parallel lines with minimal turbulence. The HEPA filter is positioned in the top of the work area and is protected by a removable perforated metal diffuser. Additionally, Germfree provides a timer-controlled UV lamp installed in the interior of the cabinet.
PCR-L2: Class II, Type A PCR Biosafety Cabinet - Advanced PCR Workstation to Protect Product, Personnel, and Environment
Germfree’s PCR-L2 is a Class II, Type A Vertical Laminar Flow Biological Safety Cabinet. This PCR workstation provides protection for the user, product and the environment from particulate and aerosol hazards. The work area is continuously bathed with positive pressure ISO 5/Class 100 HEPA filtered-air to protect the PCR samples from contamination while an inward airflow protects the operator. Approximately 70% of the air from each cycle is recirculated through the supply HEPA filter while the remaining air is discharged from the hood through the exhaust HEPA filter. Additionally, Germfree provides a timer-controlled UV lamp installed in the interior of the cabinet.
The PCR-L2 passes the Biological Tracer Containment Tests of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Cancer Institute (NCI). All units are NRTL listed with MET Labs to comply with UL1262.
Germfree’s PCR Workstations are designed for varied applications including: genetic testing, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, tissue typing, PCR-based oncogene testing, characterization of infectious disease organisms, detection of antibiotic resistance for development of new therapies, detection of disease organism sub-types in animal populations for surveillance of potential epidemics, general forensics applications, genetic fingerprinting protocols, molecular genetics, generation of hybridization probes, DNA cloning, quantitative PCR as well as niche applications such as the phylogenic analysis of DNA in archeology.
