A mobile biocontainment laboratory is a fully self-contained, offsite fabricated facility built within a mobile platform, delivering rapid, deployable BSL2 or BSL3 containment capacity wherever it’s needed. It arrives onsite with HVAC, MEP, and containment infrastructure pre-integrated, built to the same biosafety standards as a permanent installation, and can be operational in a fraction of the time.

Mobile biocontainment laboratories deploy for disease response and surveillance, aerobiology research, government and military threat assessment, and temporary or satellite BSL-3 capacity for academic and contract research organizations. They put teams on the ground near affected areas instead of transporting samples to a distant facility.

Three offsite built platforms are available: a 53 foot semi-trailer with approximately 450 sq. ft. of lab space for complex BSL3 configurations, a 24 foot sprinter van for compact, highly maneuverable deployment, and a 24 foot cargo trailer balancing capacity with ease of transport. Platform choice depends on biosafety level, workflow complexity, site access, and how often the unit will relocate.

Mobile biocontainment laboratories are designed to CDC/NIH BMBL guidelines and, internationally, WHO laboratory biosafety guidelines. BSL3 configurations meet requirements for directional airflow, 100% exhaust HVAC, sealed penetrations, and access control, engineered within a mobile platform for structural integrity and post-deployment containment verification.
