Custom Fill-Finish Processing Isolator built in collaboration with AST

In April 2024, Germfree and AST unveiled a groundbreaking sterile fill-finish solution in Tacoma, WA, that redefines industry standards.

Project features

Equipment: Sterile-Fill Finish Processing Isolator.

Layout configurations: 3 chambers. Interlocking doors, onboard CURIS 7000ei system, onboard unified HMI user interface.

The challenge

Germfree was awarded the opportunity to collaborate with AST in designing this ground-breaking new isolator and oRABS system. Finding a robust fill-finish solution in the United States has proven to be a challenge with extremely long lead times. In addition to these lead time issues, clients often face difficulties receiving quick and efficient service calls. To address this, Germfree offers 24/7 U.S.-based support, ensuring rapid response and minimized downtime.

The answer

Germfree’s collaboration with AST has been crucial in addressing these challenges effectively. By pooling Germfree’s expertise in isolator technology with AST’s advanced Aseptic Fill-Finish Processing knowledge, the team has successfully designed a versatile series of isolators in various sizes and throughputs. This collaboration has enabled the creation and delivery of high-quality isolators.

This project ensures that the isolators are designed and manufactured in accordance with the highest industry standards. The result is an innovative design that has garnered notable recognition, winning Best in Show at the Interphex 2024 tradeshow and serving as a benchmark for future isolator designs currently in development.

These systems were designed and built using Germfree’s proven high-containment manufacturing practices, a foundation established through decades of experience. Since the 1960s, Germfree has been at the forefront of biocontainment equipment manufacturing, and this legacy of engineering excellence laid the groundwork for today’s pharmaceutical manufacturing innovations. By leveraging this history, Germfree continues to push the boundaries of isolator technology, ensuring reliable performance and industry-leading safety. Click here to learn more about our equipment.
