State-of-the-art mobile chemical laboratory for defense research and development Canada

The Canadian Army's Group Corporate Services Section Defense Research and Development requested a chemical analysis facility to serve as the chemical control center for the 2010 Winter Olympics. The mobile chemical laboratory had to handle the heat load of multiple GC-MSs and recycle heat as outside temperatures would drop to as low as -40 °C.

Features: Designed to withstand harsh Canadian winters, outfitted with a vestibule

The challenge

Throughout the Olympic Games, air samples were scheduled for hourly collection citywide. This required a considerable onsite analytical capacity, crucial for safeguarding the well-being of international participants.

The answer

Germfree meticulously designed and constructed a cutting-edge mobile chemical laboratory, housed within a robust 45-foot gooseneck trailer for Defense Research and Development Canada – Suffield (DRDC). Leveraging our advanced technology and expertise, we built a resilient facility capable of withstanding both GC-MS heat stress and substantial outdoor temperature drops. The laboratory was equipped with all essential apparatus, high-performance air filtration systems, and dedicated chemical analysis workstations.

We took immense pride in supplying the Canadian Army, represented by DRDC, with a pioneering mobile chemistry laboratory for their use during the 2010 Winter Olympics. Collaborating closely with the Canadian Army, Germfree gained a profound understanding of the unique requirements of a mobile facility built to handle rigorous workloads and extreme winter conditions. The advanced technology and features of the mobile laboratory made it an exemplary solution for air sample collection and analysis during the Olympic Games. It is Germfree’s honor to have provided a tailored solution to DRDC, ensuring the safety of international participants.
