Walls, ceilings and linings

GFRMC

GFRMC wall, ceiling, and lining systems are built as a robust, extra large, lightweight composite panel with a low vapor transmission rate of 0.0036. Within the Arcoplast range, GFRMC is the lightest system available, weighing 60% less than GFRP or Acryloyl.

GFRMC

GFRMC Paneling System

GFRMC’s size and weight bring practical advantages to installation as well. Larger panels mean fewer seams and joints across a wall or ceiling, reducing the number of potential contamination points while speeding up the build.

That combination of light weight and extra large coverage makes GFRMC especially well suited to mobile and modular laboratories, where every pound and every seam matters, with a working history in facilities certified up to ABSL-3 and BSL-3.

GFRMC Surface Finish The impermeable, antimicrobial GelCoat surface resists fungus, mildew, mold, and bacteria, and won’t corrode, oxidize, flake, delaminate, or blister, giving primary barriers a long service life with no rejuvenating maintenance.
i-Panel: Insulated Panel i-Panels are built from a high density, rigid glass fiber insulation core, encapsulated by a saturated chopped strand glass fiber mat shell. That encapsulated core doesn’t shed fibers, collapse, or decompress over time.

Installation

Most GFRMC wall and ceiling installations require no pre-engineering, though local authorities should always be checked first. Panels install using a dry build process that generates minimal dust and waste, avoiding the contamination risks tied to wet coatings and long drying times.

Manufactured in a contaminant free environment, panels arrive ready to install, and a well trained crew can quickly seal them into a seamless primary barrier that meets ABSL-3, BSL-3, and BSL-3Ag standards.

  • Back plate lining system (5mm, 9.5mm): Panels and back plates attach using A-2020 structural adhesive, with A-1010 Bio-Seal finishing the joints and seams. Fasteners secure the back plate or spline without penetrating the barrier surface. Confirm the surface is clean and able to support new panels before attaching.
  • Spline system (9.5mm): Seismic and non-seismic splines position panels using fasteners and VHB tape, with A-2020 adhesive bonding panels and spline to the framing. A-1010 Bio-Seal finishes the joints, forming a seamless barrier.
  • Direct attach: A-1010 Bio-Seal, A-2020 adhesive, fasteners, and brackets attach devices directly to the barrier. Once fixed, a fixture can only be removed by cutting the panel.
  • Penetrations: A-1010 Bio-Seal and A-2020 adhesive form seamless penetrations.
  • Repair: Accidental damage can be repaired on site, restoring the barrier to new condition.

Built for Weight-Sensitive, Seamless Construction

GFRMC panels are used in large areas where weight is critical, primarily as lightweight, seamless primary barriers for mini labs and mobile labs. Large GFRMC panels build 40 foot mini lab barriers with seamless walls and ceilings and no panel to panel joints, while hybrid systems add durability in areas facing more direct contact. Both dedicated and hybrid GFRMC barriers offer a long service life with no rejuvenating maintenance required.

Applications

GFRMC panels are primarily used in the production of 40 foot mobile labs and mini labs. Their light weight and the efficiency of the dry build process make them well suited to building cleanrooms in challenging or remote locations. A&E teams also turn to GFRMC when upgrading buildings with weight limitations, since the panels are easier to handle and install on site than traditional materials.

Mobile Cleanrooms: Sterile surfaces matter in any cleanroom, but mobile cleanrooms face an added challenge: deployed outside a traditional facility, they’re exposed to a wider range of environments and potential contaminants. GFRMC’s GelCoat finish addresses this directly, with a surface topography of Ra 0.01μm that inhibits microbial attachment and supports more efficient cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization.

Air quality matters just as much in a confined space. GFRMC panels test with no detectable VOCs, helping maintain a safe breathing environment for personnel and animals inside a mini lab or mobile cleanroom.

Additional information

Dedicated: A dedicated primary barrier uses only GFRMC panels, available in standard sizes or an extra large 4 by 40 foot size. XL panels are commonly used to build seamless, single membrane primary barriers for mini labs and mobile laboratories, with one panel covering an entire wall and a single panel spanning the ceiling, minimizing joints and creating a barrier with seamless walls and ceilings.

Hybrid: A hybrid primary barrier combines GFRMC with Acryloyl and or GFRP panels, adding strength and resilience in areas of the cleanroom that see heavy traffic or impact. Once installed, the different panels are indistinguishable and hold up to the same cleaning, decontamination, and sanitation processes.

GFRMC panels are manufactured to specification in a controlled environment, built from a non-woven composite core substrate with an outer layer of reinforced glass fiber resin. The Arcoplast GelCoat surface finish is impermeable, with a perm rate of 0.01, and the panel delivers a flexural strength of 14,469.9 psi and a tensile strength of 10,100 psi. Surface burning characteristics have been tested and passed at Class A, 20 flame spread, 300 smoke developed.

GFRMC panels don’t break down, blister, delaminate, flake, splinter, shed, or peel over time, and they require no rejuvenating maintenance programs. In the event of accidental damage, the panel is fully repairable, supporting a long service life for the primary barrier.

Does not support microbial activity, bacteria, mildew, or fungus.

  • Panel Color: Available in most Pantone (PMS) colors, with Pristine White as the standard.
  • Structural Integrity: Rigid, impermeable, and resilient to corrosion, the panel does not blister, delaminate, shrink, flake, or peel. GFRMC primary barriers have a long service life and require no rejuvenating maintenance programs, minimizing downtime and supporting a strong return on investment.
