Mobile USP <797> and <800> Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Cleanroom Trailer for Northern Mississippi Health Services

Germfree Laboratories collaborated with On Demand Pharmaceuticals to develop the Shortage Response Pharmacy on Demand (SR-PoD), a mobile compounding solution. This facility, based at North Mississippi Medical Center, enables local production of critical medicines like lidocaine and epinephrine to address drug shortages, ensuring timely access for hospitals in the region.
Project features

Size: 636 sq. ft. of cleanroom space, with an additional 364 sq ft of support space

Layout configurations: Two, 3 room, ISO 7 trailers with unidirectional flow through the production suite.

Facilities/Equipment: Two mobile compounding pharmacies with connecting vestibule and support exit vestibule. This includes all stainless-steel casework, fixed furniture, cleanroom pass through boxes, and two custom 5’ laminar flow hoods.

The challenge

Germfree was awarded the opportunity to help resolve drug shortages, particularly those medicines vital for life-saving treatments. Germfree had a commitment to ensure patient access to essential medicines and groundbreaking cell and gene therapy curative therapies.

The answer

On Demand Pharmaceutical’s breakthrough technology platform, the Shortage Response Pharmacy on Demand (SR-PoD), is comprised of two mobile manufacturing cleanrooms, designed with precision by Germfree Laboratories. The unit maintains a sterile environment without compromising patient safety or quality, located right on the North Mississippi Medical Center’s premises. In partnership with local pharmacy technicians, On Demand Pharmaceuticals will produce vital medicines such as lidocaine and epinephrine, to serve several hospitals in the Norther Mississippi area.
