SUSPENDED CEILING PANEL GRID SYSTEM

TR-35

TR-35 is Arcoplast’s suspended lay-in ceiling panel grid system, built for high demand wet or dry cleanrooms in toxic or sterile environments. Unlike standard metal grid systems, TR-35 rails are manufactured from pultruded fiberglass thermoset polyester resin, with no ongoing maintenance program required.

TR-35

The Ceiling System Built for Harsh Environments

TR-35 rails are impervious to water and humidity, and unaffected by galvanic action, corrosion, or oxidization. They resist fungus, mold, bacteria, and viruses, and won’t flake, peel, blister, delaminate, or sag over time.

The system is modular, built from clamps, rails, and clips, and requires no specialized tools to install. It assembles in a variety of formats and can be fitted with air tight, water tight gaskets. TR-35 supports Acryloyl square edge or tegular edge panels, as well as the insulated i-Panel.

i-Panel GFRP Closed Edge Insulated Ceiling Panel: The i-Panel features a high density, rigid glass fiber insulation core, encapsulated in a saturated chopped strand fiber mat shell with closed edges to prevent shedding. The face is finished with the Arcoplast GelCoat surface, and the panel offers an R value between 2.3 and 8.3.
Hanger Wires: TR-35 grids are supported by three types of hanger wire: galvanized for non-corrosive environments, stainless steel for non-magnetic settings like MRI rooms, and Monel for halide-heavy environments where stainless steel isn’t suitable.
TR35 Cross Junction: Overlock and interlock clamps join a cross rail to a main rail, with a location notch on the main rail keeping the rails and clamps positioned correctly in the grid. Panel clips aren’t part of this junction assembly. Instead, they secure the ceiling panels into the grid, strengthening the air and water tight seal and preventing panel flutter.
TR35 Panel Bay A panel bay is the area created by the grid that houses an MEP device or lay-in ceiling panel.
TR35 Offset Junction: The offset junction combines an offset clamp and an overlock clamp, fixed anywhere along the rail with lock rivets to create custom bay sizes. Offset clamps come standard or modified, cut at an angle to fit around an MEP device or panel.
TR35 Crossrail Perfect Step: Only the cross rail has a perfect step, allowing it to align flush with any intersecting main, cross, or wall rail.

The TR-35 grid combines three rail types, multiple clamp styles, clamp junctions, panel clips, and lock rivets to support lay-in i-Panel ceiling panels.

Installation

The TR-35 system is built from three rail types, five clamp types, and panel clips that lock together to form bays for lay-in ceiling panels or MEPs. While the grid can house standard ceiling panels, only Acryloyl and i-Panel lay-in panels are designed for toxic environments.

TR-35’s rail and clamp assemblies are thicker than a conventional metal grid, requiring a small center-to-center adjustment, an extra 1/16 inch (1.5875 mm) per linear foot, when designing or installing the grid.

  • Four seal types secure panels into the grid: Aqua Fin gasket, Bubble Seal gasket, Foam gasket, and TR-35 caulking
  • Different rail configurations support seismic categories A through F
  • TR-35 integrates with Arcoform and all Arcoplast wall and ceiling systems, except GFRP Lead panels
  • A-1010 Bio-Seal finishes any penetration into the grid

In the event of damage, replacing components is typically most cost effective, though panels can be repaired if needed. Arcoplast is not a domestic product, and all installations must be carried out by trained, experienced tradespeople.

Built for the Harshest Conditions

The TR-35 suspended ceiling, fitted with Arcoplast panels, is a high endurance, waterproof, air tight system built for humid, high saline, corrosive, sterile, or toxic conditions. It withstands rigorous cleaning and decontamination procedures, offering a long service life with no rejuvenating maintenance required.

Insulation That Stays Protected

The i-Panel features a high density, rigid glass fiber insulation core, encapsulated by a saturated chopped strand fiber mat shell. Its impermeable, high gloss GelCoat surface, together with the shell, protects the inner core from moisture, vermin, dust, and contaminants. The closed edge design prevents the panel from shedding fibers, collapsing, or decompressing over time. i-Panels are available in most PMS colors, with Pristine White as the standard.

TR35 Seals

TR-35 gasket seals are factory fitted, while TR-35 caulking is applied on site. Panel clips secure panels into the grid, preventing flutter and reinforcing the seal from the Aqua Fin, Bubble Seal, or Foam gasket, with Aqua Fin and Bubble Seal offering full air and water tight protection.

There are three ways to access the interstitial space:

  • Secured, via panel latches with a gasket-sealed grid
  • Unsecured, via panel latches with no gasket or caulking
  • Secured, through an access hatch sealed with TR-35 caulking

TR-35 caulking offers the strongest seal and can be cut, removed, and resealed as needed. Access is typically through hatches, though panel latches are used in some cases.

Applications

For facilities enclosing a large, expansive roof, a suspended ceiling is the practical solution. TR-35 is built for environments that demand high sanitation, regulated temperature, controlled humidity, and protection against dust, bacteria, and other micro-contaminants.

Large spaces aren’t the only ones facing this challenge. TR-35 suspended ceilings are used across biosecurity and biosafety labs, mobile labs, pharmaceutical facilities, vivariums, and food and beverage production, industries that depend on a controlled, hygienic environment around the clock.

The system’s versatility, robust construction, and long service life, with no rejuvenating maintenance required, translate to minimal downtime and a strong return on investment. Those factors have made TR-35 a preferred suspended ceiling system for scientific and industrial cleanrooms and temperature controlled environments.

Additional information

  • Acryloyl square edge and tegular lay-in ceiling panels are built from the same impermeable, fully submersible, isotropic solid core composite.
  • The i-Panel features a high density, rigid glass fiber insulation core, encapsulated by a saturated chopped strand fiber mat shell, with an impermeable, high gloss GelCoat surface. It’s the lightest and only insulated lay-in ceiling panel in the Arcoplast range, offering strong insulation while staying light enough to fit a conventional suspended metal grid.

  • TR-35 rails are manufactured from pultruded fiberglass thermoset polyester resin, pound for pound as strong as or stronger than steel.
