The healthcare industry has always had a multiplicity of challenges when it comes to designing and building specific environments that can deliver long lasting maintenance free finishes, comply with building codes and mandatory regulatory trade compliances.

The key to containment:
Bio-Seal
Arcoplast panels create a highly cleanable, impervious surface resistant to Steris SPOR-Klenz RTU, Contec Peridox RTU, and other disinfecting agents used in high containment health care units. Acryloyl panels and Bio-Seal sealant form a monolithic, air tight environment that prevents the spread of known and unknown pathogens.
The Acryloyl panel’s flame spread index of 10 and smoke index of 0 also make it a critical safety component in high occupancy settings like hospitals, and its design meets the Living Building Challenge, contributing directly to patient well-being and safety.
USP 797 / 800 Facility Solutions
USP 797 / 800
Healthcare is increasingly engaged in pharmaceutical compounding to personalize medications for patients, and that work comes with strict compliance requirements, including:
- USP 797, governing sterile preparation compounding
- USP 800, governing hazardous drug handling in healthcare
Built for Sterile Compounding
Arcoplast wall and ceiling systems support both renovation and new construction for facilities compounding sterile and non-sterile hazardous drugs. These facilities are among the most critical in healthcare, depended on by millions of people every day.
Engineering controls for hazardous drug compounding are complex, with requirements spanning contamination cleaning, exterior venting, and negative pressure control.
ISO Class 5 Compliance
Arcoplast’s Acryloyl panel offers a smooth, impervious, non shedding surface built for hazardous drug decontamination, with different air quality requirements depending on compounding type:
- Sterile: ISO Class 5 or better, via a Class II/III biological safety cabinet or compounding aseptic containment isolator
- Non-sterile: no ISO classification, but still requires decontamination and cleaning
Ceiling panels in multiple thicknesses accommodate exhaust stacks of any size or shape.
Tested to ASTM E 2178
Arcoplast panels cut easily to fit field conditions, and Bio-Seal finishing compound keeps required negative and positive pressure intact. Secondary containment areas depend on this: sterile and non-sterile hazardous drug compounding both require negative pressure of 0.01 to 0.03 inches of water column relative to adjacent areas at all times.
Panel systems are tested to the ASTM E 2178 Air Pressure Decay Test at both negative and positive 4 inches WC when installed with Bio-Seal.
